The Philosophy of Pakachoag Acres
is based on a set of "lighthouse" principles:

each person is unique

We believe each person is a unique individual. We are sensitive to their physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs. We design a developmentally appropriate environment and program that nurtures the child's growth in all areas of development, including assessment and early intervention (when appropriate).

Safe & Healthy Environment

We believe in providing a physical environment that is safe, clean, healthy, and oriented to young children, at home and in the centers. Rooms are arranged to offer many opportunities for stimulation, experience, challenging play and learning choices at each developmental level to allow children many opportunities to make choices, explore, manipulate, and most importantly, to succeed.

Love of Learning

We advocate for the "love of learning", encourage curiosity, empower children, and help develop a sense of respect for self, and others.

Confident Leaders

We believe the strength of the child is inherent in his/her family, community, society, and culture. We believe a child’s parents/sponsors are the most significant adults in a child’s life.

Family Support

We advocate for and support the family to assist them to attain their own goals, especially family unity, physical and emotional safety and security; providing for needs: medical, social, nutritional, health, economic, educational, and other issues relating to the roles of parenting.

Mutual Respect

We believe mutual respect between significant adults in a child's life is imperative to the child's sense of security, which is necessary to benefit from growth opportunities, and strive to create mutually supportive relationships between families and faculty, creating a partnership with sponsors for the benefit of the child.

Knowledgable Teachers

We believe the strength of our program is human resources, most importantly our faculty. We support our teachers with training, resources, and freedom to create wonderful creative opportunities for children to experience.

Professional Growth

We provide many opportunities for teachers to share feelings and ideas, and to grow professionally. Our teachers create the environment; caring, responsive, and nurturing; helping the child to develop trust in the world, autonomy, creativity, industry and a positive self image.

Realistic expectations

We believe in positive methods of discipline, with realistic age appropriate expectations. We encourage children to develop self-discipline, independence, and responsibility, by providing many opportunities. We want to strengthen each child's identity, in the context of family, society, and culture, while learning respect for the rights of others who may differ from self.

Supportive Surroundings

Pakachoag Acres understands the value of people, and the ability to get along. We offer children many opportunities to experience relationships with peers of various ages, supportive and nurturing adults, and for social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Outstanding Experience

We value the children we serve, their sponsors, our employees, and our community and cultural diversity. We constantly strive to maintain the trust placed in us. We strive every day to provide the best early childhood experience possible, in every way, for each child and family.

My son has gone to Pakachoag Acres since he was 11 weeks old and is now five. He has had an amazing bunch of teachers who have help him learn and grow along the way. He can’t wait to go to school everyday!!!
