The Mission of Pakachoag Acres is simple…

To provide comprehensive and coordinated developmentally appropriate learning programs offering direct care, supervision and education of children from one month old to six years old;

To provide each child with many opportunities each day for development; physical, social, emotional, intellectual and moral, for the purpose of developing in the child, a firm foundation for lasting happiness and success; and to achieve these goals through developmentally appropriate practices;

To support and strengthen families through advocacy and service and to promote health and safety goals for young children and families; to advocate for young children and families and to provide support to young children and families in meeting basic human needs.

We do not teach materials here; we provide opportunities. We seek understanding, and provide an environment rich with stimulation, and respect the importance of SELF;

  • Self-Image

  • Self-Motivation

  • Self-Control

  • Self-Discipline

  • Self-Direction

  • Self-Satisfaction

  • etc.

Our goal is that each child would develop a strong sense of the world as a predictable, secure, and responsive place; and themselves as competent, active, creative and lovable people.

We subscribe to the theories of: Abraham Maslow, as set forth in his theory on the "Hierarchy of Needs"; Carl Rogers, “Unconditional Positive Regard”; and Eric Erickson, as his "Eight Ages of Mankind" and his theory of "Psycho Social Development"; Piaget, in his theory of "Cognitive Development"; B. F. Skinner, in his stimulus-response theories of Behavioral Psychology, for understanding, shaping, and motivating positive behaviors and for modeling positive behavior; And to many other, theorists who provide insight in understanding and motivating positive growth and development throughout the life cycle for children, families and staff.
